Final Release! Medium Husky Rugs

These two medium sized huskies make up the full set of husky rugs! The original, large size was a commission, and I adjusted the template for these medium rugs and some minis.

I had a lot of fun playing with the colours on these guys. I really love the chocolate/orange husky (with a light pink nose!), but the classic black/blue is really striking in person, too.

These are the final rugs I’ll be making with this design, but I hope to revisit huskies again in the future!

New Design! Medium Tabby Kitten Rugs

Another new design for a well-loved subject: Tabby kittens! Most of my tabby designs are based on my two ginger cats, but this one is based on a kitten I saw at the local cat cafe, Purrfect Cup.
I love how kittens have cartoonishly large ears and eyes. They’re so goofy and charming.

Mini Rainbow Husky Rugs

Here are some mini husky rugs!
These little guys are based on a past commission. I thought the base design was simple enough that it would make a cute mini rug, and it’s nice to work with a dog design that’s not one of my border collies haha!
This time I chose blue eyes on the orange (red) husky, but still went with green on the blue (black) husky. Blue eyes are just so husky-ish! But I also appreciate how mellow the green looks against the blue without being too same-same. What do you think?

Mini Cat Rugs

Here’s the new design for my tabby cat rugs for this year: Tabby kittens!
I love how kittens have absurdly big ears. I usually exaggerate the ears and eyes a bit for my designs, but definitely didn’t need to this time haha! I’m testing out green eyes for both the orange and blue colourways (usually I used blue eyes on orange and orange eyes on blue). What do you think?

Scuzzy Cat Plate

Now for something entirely new: a ceramic plate!

My in-laws were visiting recently, and we all went to the Clay Cafe. This is our favourite place to hang out as a family of artsy people, and we try to go whenever they visit.

This was my little piece for this round: a little plate of my kitty, Scuzzy. It was so fun to paint! The glazes feel so different from watercolours or gouache, but they overlap enough that I really enjoyed using them. (Unlike acrylics haha!) I definitely have a lot to learn, but I’m very happy with the outcome!

Hellooooo

It’s been forever since I last painted on wood, and it was so satisfying! This is a portrait of my youngest kitty, Sparc. He’s a very chaotic, friendly guy who is absolutely obsessed with pets. I tried to capture his silly, friendly personality with this portrait.

Rainbow Parrot Eye Watercolour Study

Continuing my little eye studies, here’s a parrot! Painting such a colourful animal in “natural” colours may be a little bit cheating, but this was super fun to paint. I really love how the highlight fades down over the pupil in the reference photo.

Mini Cat Rugs

Here are some orange tabby cats and blue tabby cats! These mini rugs are around 7-8” across. I was again focusing on getting the details even and clean at this tiny size. The eyes are always the biggest challenge at this tiny size, because there’s really no wiggle room before the eyes look skewed. I think this batch definitely turned out the best so far!

I’m retiring this design after this batch, so be sure to snag one of these guys if you really want this design.

Mini Dog Rugs

Here are some orange pups and some blue pups! These little guys are about 7-8” on the longest side. I’ve been practising getting more detail into this tiny size, and I think it’s paying off. I’m retiring this design after this batch, so be sure to snag one of these guys if you really want this design.
